Chart Layout and App Management

Chart Layout comprises one or more charts grouped under a “name” with a user-defined set of indicators, drawings, and other objects—each component styled per user requirements. GoCharting provides several tools to manage your chart layouts and app settings effectively. These features allow you to customize, save, clone, and reset your trading workspace according to your preferences.

1. Save as New Layout

The Save as New Layout feature enables you to create a new chart layout based on the current setup you’re working on. This is useful when you want to preserve your current layout while making changes in a new one.

Steps:

  • Go to the layout menu and select Save as New Layout.
  • Assign a name to the new layout.
  • Your existing layout remains intact while the new one is saved separately.

2. Make a Clone

The Make a Clone feature creates an exact duplicate of the current layout you are working on. This allows you to experiment with changes without altering the original layout.

Steps:

  • Click on the Make a Clone option.
  • A prompt will appear to name the new cloned layout.
  • Once saved, the cloned layout will appear as a new chart with the same settings, indicators, and drawings.

3. Create Blank Template

The Create Blank Template option starts you off with a completely clean chart. No indicators, drawings, or settings will be applied, allowing you to build a chart from scratch and save it with your custom settings.

Steps:

  • Select Create Blank Template from the layout options.
  • A blank chart will open.
  • Add your desired indicators and settings, then save the layout.

4. Save App Profile

The Save App Profile feature allows you to save various application settings, ensuring a seamless experience every time you log in.

Items Saved:

  • Themes: Custom themes you’ve applied to the interface.
  • Favorites: Instruments or indicators you’ve marked by clicking the heart symbol.
  • Default Parameters: All default settings from your current app configuration.

Steps:

  • Go to the app settings and select Save App Profile to store your customized setup.

5. Reset App Default

The Reset App Default feature returns all app settings to their default state, except for your chart layouts, which will remain unaffected. This is useful if you need to restore the original settings without losing your saved layouts.

Steps:

  • Go to app settings and select Reset App Default.
  • All custom settings will be restored to default values, but your chart layouts will remain saved.

6. Auto-Save

If auto-save is enabled, it will automatically save your changes in the settings every 120 seconds.
